A little more from CullenofAdelaid when not in the fray. A tragic on two levels: Gardening and Cooking, with welcome interruptions from family and the wonder that is the world and its people.

Mites
Mites. This speckling of the leaves is it. Malcolm Campbell helped me confirm it this morning, They've been everywhere this season - stone fruit, roses, tomatoes. The low impact way is natrasoap, medium is confidor. Kelthane is the miticide, and I thought it was the one chemical I didn't have, then I found a bottle of miticide wiith the same active ingredient (Dicofol) in it. So this season I think I'll be going with the sledgehammer. A bit of a shame.

Lotsa Nashis
Nice to pick 1.5 kg of Nashis a day when we want them. Getting those nets over the trees really paid off this year.

Nashis and White Plums
The fruit shopping might be cheaper this week. 3kg of fruit, without even trying. I'm drying basil, and the dehydrator got a workout on some plums earlier today too.
Mitigates the $800 water bills I get for this hobby I suppose.

Next year's woolly bear caterpillar
Those big furry caterpillars in winter? This is what they become - the fairly nondescript tiger moth. Just happens to be sitting on my - apparently ornamental - bed of marigolds.
